Asus delays the ZenFone 3 Zoom until Q2, will improve its specs for the US
Released last week in Taiwan, the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom was supposed to become available in the US starting this quarter. Unfortunately, Asus North America says that the phone is being delayed until the second quarter of the year, so it's now expected to arrive sometime between April and June.
Answering to a fan on Facebook, Asus mentions that the delay allows it to "rework" the ZenFone 3 Zoom "with better specs." At the moment, there is no word on exactly what specs will be changed. It could be the 5.5-inch 1080p display, the Snapdragon 625 processor, or even the phone's dual rear camera (which offers 2.3x optical zoom). We'll just have to wait and see what Asus has in mind for this.
Previously, Asus said that the ZenFone 3 Zoom would be sold for $399 in the US (unlocked). We assume that this price won't change once the phone hits shelves in Q2, even if it's bound to get some improved features.
The design of the ZenFone 3 Zoom will likely not be changed for the US market. Thus, if you want to take a closer look at the smartphone before you can see it in real life, go ahead and check out our Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom hands-on.
Thanks for the tip!
